About Selmoni Smart Handling
Selmoni Smart Handling was founded in early 2019 by Brice and Thomas Schermesser in collaboration with Selmoni SAS (a member of the Ernst Selmoni AG group), which specializes in plant control and automation.
The expertise specific to the wood industry was acquired by automation specialist Selmoni in collaboration with Schermesser, a company owned by Gérard Schermesser until 2013. Up to that point, Selmoni had been designing and manufacturing electrical switchgear, developing the corresponding software, and carrying out machine wiring at the Altkirch plant.
In recent years, it has become increasingly clear that managing and controlling material flows play a crucial role in manufacturing processes. As a result, integrating automation and mechanical design from the outset is essential to delivering high-performance solutions tailored to industrial needs. In 2019, Selmoni decided to expand its offering by providing not only control systems but also the necessary machines and installations. To bring this vision to life, Selmoni Smart Handling, based in Altkirch (Alsace), was founded in partnership with Brice and Thomas Schermesser.
Today, a complete, turnkey, and customized solution is available, combining both machine technology and control systems. With Gérard Schermesser serving as an advisor to Selmoni Smart Handling, the company benefits from over 30 years of expertise in panel handling, machine automation, and industrial installations for the engineered wood sector. Since its inception, Selmoni Smart Handling has supported numerous renowned companies in the wood, steel, and construction materials sectors, delivering new equipment while modernizing existing installations.
